Today's Guest Post is from Dion De Rossi.
Riding on broomsticks, partying naked in the woods, rimming Satan himself and taking hallucinogenic herbs. The medieval archetype of the Witch was patriarchal society’s worst nightmare - a sexually liberated, feminist and powerful woman who prioritised pleasure and knowledge of her body over traditional gender roles.
It’s no coincidence that throughout history witches have been portrayed as monstrous sexual creatures. Sexual energy is one of the most powerful forces a person can harness, and Sex Magick is one of the witches' most ancient and potent practices.
Thanks to centuries of repression, most women have lost their connection to the slutty, empowered witch archetype and subsequently have lost the ability to tap into our sexual energy. But there’s a new generation of witches bringing Sex Magick back into the mainstream consciousness and teaching people of all genders and sexualities how to harness sexual energy in order to manifest our desires.

So what is Sex Magick? Simply, it is the practice of using your innate sexual fire - most often your orgasm - to manifest your dreams and desires in the material plane. As a self-identified slut and sex witch I’ve used my sexual energy to manifest everything from writing gigs to cheap rent, even my German artist visa! Every person of every gender has the ability to use Sex Magick and to reconnect with the wild, sexual and untamed witch within – we just need to learn how.
In my own practice, I always write my manifestations down on paper and place them on my altar under a pile of my favourite crystals, coins and a nice leaf or flower from outside. I like to set the scene by making my room completely silent, lighting incense, adding mood lighting and lying on my bed with clean sheets. Finally, I use my absolute favourite toy, the Satisfyer, to bring myself to orgasm while channelling all my energy on what I want to bring forth into the world.
DIY is at the heart of magic, sexuality and creation. So it is important that you customise your own practice using the essential elements to create something that truly resonates with you. Magick can only work if you feel it in your authentic core - no matter how Instagram ready your altar may be.
This guide is an easy template for any aspiring witch to take, modify and create your own bespoke Sex Magick ritual.
What do you want more of in your life? What do you want to let go of?
As a Capricorn, most of my manifestations centre around career and money but you can manifest anything from great sex, better health, healing or abundant self-love. Sex magic is also really useful for cutting ties to things that no longer serve you, like getting over your ex or letting go of your self-criticism.
Once you have your intention you can either write it down to place on an altar or say out loud to yourself both before and during your ritual. Combining writing it down and speaking it aloud is especially encouraged.

Create an environment that’s free of distraction. You don’t want to be worrying about the time or deadlines while you’re performing a ritual, so make sure you carve out a space where you can be fully present an in the moment. Traditionalist will tell you the full moon is the most potent time to perform magic – however I favour the New Moon and many other witches don’t feel the need to tie their ritual to the moon at all, so don’t feel like you have to be overly dogmatic.
We all know glamour is a form of witchcraft – so put your nice sheets on the bed, moisturise with some fancy body oils, put on an outfit you feel great in and keep your favourite sex toys within arm’s reach. Of course, what makes you feel sexy is going to be completely unique to you – so whatever makes you feel sexy, powerful and centred is perfect.

Most Sex Educators will tell you that an orgasm should never be the end goal of masturbation but for Sex Magick it’s pretty ideal.
Take your time to raise your sexual energy through really seducing yourself, you want to feel charged and powerful. The medieval guide to witch hunting, the Malleus Mallificarum, wrote that women’s sexual energy was so vast and powerful that it must be contained for the good of man lest it consume everything it’s path. That’s the kind of patriarchy destroying level power we want to tap in to. While you touch yourself focus your intention on your manifestation. Channel your energy on visualising your desires up to and during the moment of orgasm.
Once the ritual is complete it’s important to re-centre and ease back into the real world. Eat a snack, stretch, have a shower, whatever brings you out of ritual space in a gentle and grounding way. Once you’ve done that you can sit back and wait for your witchy dreams to come to fruition.
